“For this is the way God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.”

John 3:16 NET

And all these things are from God who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and who has given us the ministry of reconciliation. In other words, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting people’s trespasses against them, and he has given us the message of reconciliation. Therefore we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making His plea through us. We plead with you on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God!” God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God.—God is love. By this the love of God is revealed in us: that God has sent his one and only Son into the world so that we may live through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, if God so loved us, then we also ought to love one another.

So you too consider yourselves dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

Rom 6:11 NET

“I tell you the solemn truth, the one who hears my message and believes the one who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, but has crossed over from death to life.”—For through the law I died to the law so that I may live to God. I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So the life I now live in the body, I live because of the faithfulness of the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

“Because I live, you will live too.”—“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish; no one will snatch them from my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one can snatch them from my Father’s hand. The Father and I are one.”

Therefore, if you have been raised with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God…. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

Let us carefully examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord.

Lam 3:40 NET

Examine me, O Lord, and test me! Evaluate my inner thoughts and motives!—Look, you desire integrity in the inner man; you want me to possess wisdom.—I consider my actions and follow your rules. I keep your commands eagerly and without delay.—A person should examine himself first, and in this way let him eat the bread and drink of the cup.

But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.—We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous One, and he himself is the atoning sacrifice for our sins.—Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus, by the fresh and living way that he inaugurated for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.

Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Jas 4:7 NET

For he comes like a rushing stream driven on by wind sent from the Lord.—“Go away, Satan! For it is written: ’You are to worship the Lord your God and serve only him.’” Then the devil left him, and angels came and began ministering to his needs.

Finally, be strengthened in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Clothe yourselves with the full armor of God so that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.—Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.—So that we may not be exploited by Satan (for we are not ignorant of his schemes).—Be sober and alert. Your enemy the devil, like a roaring lion, is on the prowl looking for someone to devour. Resist him, strong in your faith, because you know that your brothers and sisters throughout the world are enduring the same kinds of suffering.—This is the conquering power that has conquered the world: our faith.

Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies.

“This is what the sovereign Lord says: I will allow the house of Israel to ask me to do this for them.”

Ezek 36:37 NET

You do not have because you do not ask.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”—And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in regard to whatever we ask, then we know that we have the requests that we have asked from him.—But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him.—Open your mouth wide and I will fill it!—Then Jesus told them a parable to show them they should always pray and not lose heart.

The Lord pays attention to the godly and hears their cry for help. The godly cry out and the Lord hears; he saves them from all their troubles.—“At that time you will ask in my name, and I do not say that I will ask the Father on your behalf. For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me. Ask and you will receive it, so that your joy may be complete.”

Who can really fathom the intensity of your anger?

Ps 90:11 NET

Now from noon until three, darkness came over all the land. At about three o’clock Jesus shouted with a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” that is, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”—The Lord caused the sin of all of us to attack him.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.—Therefore, since we have been declared righteous by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.—Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us.

God has sent his one and only Son into the world so that we may live through him. In this is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins.—So that he would be just and the justifier of the one who lives because of Jesus’ faithfulness.

The sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does.

Heb 12:24 NET

“Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”—The Lamb who was killed.—For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. So when he came into the world, he said, “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me. By his will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

But Abel brought some of the firstborn of his flock – even the fattest of them. And the Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering.—Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.

Let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water.—Therefore, brothers and sisters, … we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus.
