Light on The Daily Path

The Lord is on friendly terms with me.

[Judg 6:24 NET]

“Look, you will have a son, who will be a peaceful man. I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. Indeed, Solomon will be his name; I will give Israel peace and quiet during his reign.”

“Something greater than Solomon is here!” For a child has been born to us, a son has been given to us. He shoulders responsibility and is called: Extraordinary Strategist, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. My people will live in peaceful settlements, in secure homes, and in safe, quiet places. Even if the forest is destroyed and the city is annihilated.

For he is our peace. He will give us peace. Should the Assyrians try to invade our land.

“They will make war with the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them, because he is Lord of lords and King of kings.”

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.”

“Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep.”

[John 11:11 NET]

Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe that God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians.

For if the dead are not raised, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is useless; you are still in your sins. Furthermore, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished. But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

When the entire nation was on the other side, the Lord told Joshua, “Pick up twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, from the very place where the priests stand firmly … These stones will be a lasting memorial for the Israelites.”—“This Jesus God raised up, and we are all witnesses of it.”—The witnesses God had already chosen, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

My eyes grow tired from looking up to the sky.

[Isa 38:14 NET]

Have mercy on me, Lord, for I am frail! Heal me, Lord, for my bones are shaking! I am absolutely terrified, and you, Lord – how long will this continue? Relent, Lord, rescue me! Deliver me because of your faithfulness!—My heart beats violently within me; the horrors of death overcome me. Fear and panic overpower me; terror overwhelms me. I say, “I wish I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and settle in a safe place!

For you need endurance.

As they were still staring into the sky while he was going, suddenly two men in white clothing stood near them and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand here looking up into the sky? This same Jesus who has been taken up from you into heaven will come back in the same way you saw him go into heaven.”—But our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ.—The happy fulfillment of our hope in the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.

I know the one in whom my faith is set and I am convinced that he is able.

[2 Tim 1:12 NET]

Able to do far beyond all that we ask or think.

Able to make all grace overflow to you so that because you have enough of everything in every way at all times, you will overflow in every good work.

Able to help those who are tempted.

Able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.

Able to keep you from falling, and to cause you to stand, rejoicing, without blemish before his glorious presence.

Able to protect what has been entrusted to me until that day.

Who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself.

“Do you believe that I am able to do this?” … “Yes, Lord.” “Let it be done for you according to your faith.”

[He] protect[s] the way of his pious ones.

[Prov 2:8 NET]

The Lord your God … going before you to find places for you to set up camp. He appeared by fire at night and cloud by day, to show you the way you ought to go. Like an eagle that stirs up its nest, that hovers over its young, so the Lord spread out his wings and took him, he lifted him up on his pinions. The Lord alone was guiding him, no foreign god was with him. The Lord grants success to the one whose behavior he finds commendable. Even if he trips, he will not fall headlong, for the Lord holds his hand. The godly face many dangers, but the Lord saves them from each one of them. Certainly the Lord guards the way of the godly, but the way of the wicked ends in destruction. And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. “The Lord our God is with us to help us and fight our battles!”

The Lord your God is in your midst; he is a warrior who can deliver. He takes great delight in you.

Consequently a Sabbath rest remains for the people of God.

[Heb 4:9 NET]

“There the wicked cease from turmoil, and there the weary are at rest. There the prisoners relax together; they do not hear the voice of the oppressor.”

“Blessed are the dead, those who die in the Lord from this moment on!” … “they can rest from their hard work, because their deeds will follow them.”

“Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep …” Now Jesus had been talking about his death, but they thought he had been talking about real sleep.

For we groan while we are in this tent, since we are weighed down. We ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies. For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope … But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for it with endurance.

The Lord is my Banner.

[Exod 17:15 NET]

If God is for us, who can be against us?

The Lord is on my side, I am not afraid! What can people do to me?

You have given your loyal followers a rallying flag, so that they might seek safety from the bow. The Lord delivers and vindicates me! I fear no one!

The Lord protects my life! I am afraid of no one! Even when an army is deployed against me, I do not fear. Even when war is imminent, I remain confident.

“Now look, God is with us as our leader.” The Lord who commands armies is on our side! The God of Jacob is our protector!

“They will make war with the Lamb, but the Lamb will conquer them.”

Why do the nations rebel? Why are the countries devising plots that will fail? The one enthroned in heaven laughs in disgust; the Lord taunts them.

Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted! Issue your orders, but they will not be executed! For God is with us!
