Heavenly-Mindedness
Our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Beyond the bounds of time and space
Look forward to that heavenly place,
The saints’ secure abode;
On faith’s strong eagle pinion rise,
And force your passage to the skies,
Strong in the strength of God.

The World Overcome by Faith
Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
’Tis faith that conquers earth and hell
By a celestial power;
This is the grace that shall prevail
In the decisive hour.

Repentance for Sin
Godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.
My lips with shame my sins confess
Against thy law, against thy grace:
Lo, should thy judgments grow severe,
I am condemn’d, but thou art clear.

Possession of the Spirit of Christ
Ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
Author of our new creation,
Let us all thine influence prove;
Make our souls thy habitation;
Shed abroad the Saviour’s love.

Self-Denial for Christ
If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Take up thy cross, let not its weight
Fill thy weak spirit with alarm,
My strength shall bear thy spirit up,
And brace thy heart, and nerve thy arm.
Take up thy cross, and follow me,
Nor think till death to lay it down;
For only he who bears the cross
May hope to wear the glorious crown.

Comforted by the Spirit
When the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.
In the hour of my distress,
When temptations me oppress,
And when I my sins confess ~
Sweet Spirit, comfort me.

Christ the Life of the Believer
When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
If my immortal Saviour lives,
Then my eternal life is sure;
His word a firm foundation gives,
Here let me build, and rest secure.
Here, O my soul, thy trust repose;
If Jesus is for ever mine,
Not death itself, that last of foes,
Shall break a union so divine.

United to Christ
I am the vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, he same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
Lord of the vineyard, we adore
That power and grace divine,
Which plants our wild, our barren souls,
In Christ the living Vine.
For ever there may I abide,
And from that vital root,
Be influence spread through every branch,
To form and feed the fruit.
