Jesus Lives

His Sufficiently

In union with Me you are complete. In closeness to Me you are transformed more and more into the one I designed you to be.

I know that you often feel incomplete, as if some vital part of you is missing. When this is just a feeling, not a conscious thought, you respond in many unproductive ways: comforting yourself with food, seeking entertainment, searching for yourself in the mirror, and so on. All the while I am with you, patiently waiting for you to remember Me. If you continue to go your own way—seeking satisfaction where there is none—you become increasingly frustrated. Your agitated condition makes it hard for you to turn back to Me, the only One who can complete you. But it is never too late to cry out, “Help me, Jesus!”

When a child of Mine calls out to Me, I never fail to respond. I may not provide instant relief, as if I were a genie, but I go to work immediately, setting in motion the conditions you need. I help you gain awareness of what you have been doing: seeking fulfillment in worldly ways. In response to your neediness, I offer you My glorious riches. When you have settled down enough to think clearly, I invite you to come near Me, where you can find completeness.

As you center your attention on Me—resting in the rarified air of My Presence—I bless you with My Peace. Though you are just a jar of clay, I fill you with My treasure: the Light of the knowledge of My Glory. This divine Light fills you to the brim—making you complete. It also transforms you, bit by bit, into the masterpiece I designed you to be.

Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
~ James 1:4

He fulfills the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cry and saves them.
~ Psalm 145:19

Come near to God and he will come near to you.
~ James 4:8

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
~ 2 Corinthians 4:6–7

Jesus Calling

IT IS IMPORTANT FOR YOU TO KNOW ME as the Initiator in our relationship. If you think it is your spiritual disciplines that keep you close to Me, you are at risk. But if you are relying on Me—what I have done, am doing, will do—you know My Love for you is always assured, so you can rest in Me.

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

~ PROVERBS 4:23

“I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.”

~ JOHN 15:5 [NASB]

Before You Turn Out the Light

I am the One who pursued you first. Reflect on what this says about how much I value you.

Jesus Always

To all who receive Me, to those who believe in My Name, I give the right to become children of God. There is a close connection between receiving Me and believing in My Name—the essence of who I am. Receiving a gift requires some measure of openness, and I am the best Gift imaginable! Recognizing Me as your Savior-God, you can believe that My offer of everlasting Life is real—and that it is for you.

Being a child of God is indescribably glorious! I am both your Savior and your constant Companion. As you journey through life in this dark world, I am with you each step of the way. I provide Light not only for your path but also for your mind and heart. I delight in giving you Joy—now and throughout eternity. Your brightest moment on earth will one day look very dark in comparison with the Glory-Light of heaven! There you will see My Face in its brilliant splendor, and you will be satisfied with endless oceans of Love.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
~ John 1:10–12

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
~ John 3:16

And I—in righteousness I will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.
~ Psalm 17:15

Trust

I will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. I have perfect knowledge of your body’s condition. Your frame was not hidden from Me when you were made in secret. I handcrafted you Myself; you are fearfully and wonderfully made!

I am the Gardener, and you are My garden. Even when you are enduring sun-scorching trials I can satisfy your needs and keep you well watered, like a spring whose waters never fail. To receive My unfailing provisions, you need to trust Me and thank Me—no matter what.

I, your sovereign Lord, will guide you always. I delight in watching over you and helping you walk in My ways. Remember, though, that you also have responsibility: to follow the guidance I provide. It is essential to study My Word, for I am vibrantly present in it. The closer you live to Me, the easier it is to find and follow My path for you. This way of living is not only for guidance but also for matchless enjoyment. I will show you the path of Life; in My Presence is fullness of Joy; at My right hand are pleasures forevermore.

The Lord will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
~ Isaiah 58:11

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
~ Psalm 139:14–15

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path.
~ Psalm 119:105

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
~ Psalm 16:11

Dear Jesus

Bearing your circumstances bravely—even thanking Me for them—is one of the highest forms of praise. This sacrifice of thanksgiving rings golden-toned bells of Joy throughout heavenly realms. On earth, also, your patient suffering sends out ripples of good tidings in ever-widening circles.

Dear Jesus, You have been training me in the discipline of thankfulness for a long time. Yet I still find it quite challenging to thank You for suffering—my own or others’. Sometimes, though, I am able to thank You for painful circumstances. This seems unnatural at first, but it is actually quite freeing. When I am able to do this, I find that I relax and feel closer to You. Please help me endure my circumstances bravely—with gratitude.

Beloved, thanking Me for adversity requires a deep level of trust: in My goodness, My mercy, My Love. People who are leaning on their own understanding cannot achieve this depth of trust. So, handling difficulties courageously involves relinquishing your demand to understand.

You have experienced personal benefits from thanking Me for hard situations, but there is more—much more! Your grateful acceptance of adversity has major repercussions far beyond yourself: in heaven as well as on earth. Joy-bells resound in heavenly domains when suffering believers trust Me enough to give thanks. Also, your sacrifice of thanksgiving has divine Power to weaken spiritual strongholds of evil. Moreover, your patient endurance of suffering can strengthen and encourage My people on earth.

Sacrifice thank offerings to Me. Tell of My works with songs of Joy (Psalm 107:22)!

Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
~ Ephesians 5:20

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
~ Proverbs 3:5

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.
~ 2 Corinthians 10:3–4

Jesus Calling [Morning]

POUR ALL OF YOUR ENERGY into trusting Me. It is through trust that you stay connected to Me, aware of My Presence. Every step on your life-journey can be a step of faith. Baby steps of trust are simple for you; you can take them with almost unconscious ease. Giant steps are another matter altogether: leaping across chasms in semidarkness, scaling cliffs of uncertainty, trudging through the valley of the shadow of death. These feats require sheer concentration, as well as utter commitment to Me.

Each of My children is a unique blend of temperament, giftedness, and life experiences. Something that is a baby step for you may be a giant step for another person, and vice versa. Only I know the difficulty or ease of each segment of your journey. Beware of trying to impress others by acting as if your giant steps are only baby ones. Do not judge others who hesitate in trembling fear before an act that would be easy for you. If each of My children would seek to please Me above all else, fear of others’ judgments would vanish, as would attempts to impress others. Focus your attention on the path just ahead of you and on the One who never leaves your side.

PSALM 23:4; MATTHEW 7:1–2; PROVERBS 29:25

Jesus Always

You are a letter from Me, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God—on the tablet of your heart. Because you are one of My followers, the Holy Spirit is in you. He equips and empowers you to do far more than you could ever do on your own. So don’t be intimidated by challenging circumstances or tough times. The third Person of the Godhead lives inside you! Ponder the implications of this glorious truth. You can do much more than you think possible when you walk in My ways, asking the Helper to strengthen you as you go step by step with Me.

The Spirit writes on the tablet of your heart not only to bless you but also to draw others to Me. When you are with people who don’t know Me, He can make you a living letter from Me. One of the shortest but most effective prayers is: “Help me, Holy Spirit.” Use this prayer as often as you need, inviting Him to bring gospel truths alive through you.

You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.

~ 2 Corinthians 3:3

You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.

~ Romans 8:9

“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”

~ John 15:26
