Jesus Calling

YOU AND I LIVE not just with each other but also in each other. Every step you take, every word you speak, every breath you breathe—all is done in My watchful, embracing Presence. The more aware of Me you are, the more alive and complete you will feel.

“On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.”

—JOHN 14:20

“For in [God] we live and move and have our being.” As some of your own poets have said, “We are his offspring.”

Before You Turn Out the Light Commit to start living in awareness of My divine Presence.

Jesus Calling

IT IS VITAL TO PLACE your hope ultimately in Me. Circumstances change all the time, but I am the same yesterday, today, and forever. Moreover, I love you with perfect, life-giving Love.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.

Before You Turn Out the Light:

Make plans to nurture your hope, which comes from Me.

APREDICTABLE LIFESTYLE MAY FEEL safer, but it can shield you from what you need most of all—Me! When unexpected events shake up your routines, rejoice. This is exactly what you need to wake you up and point you toward Me.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

—1 JOHN 4:18

My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.

Before You Turn Out the Light

As we venture into tomorrow, prepare to cling tightly to My hand, every step of the way.

Jesus Calling

THE WORLD ABOUNDS WITH IDOLS—things you turn to when you want to feel better about yourself: eating, entertainment, exercise, mastery of something or someone. However, none of these things can slake the thirst of your soul, which yearns for Me alone. When you get that gnawing sensation around the edges of your soul, return to Me—your soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods.

O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you . . . I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. —PSALM 63:1–5

Before You Turn Out the Light Retreat into My loving Presence while I refocus your thoughts and feelings on Me.

Jesus Calling

ASSURE YOU THERE IS NO CONDEMNATION for those who belong to Me. Feelings of condemnation drain you of energy, leaving you vulnerable. As My Spirit fills you with Life, you are empowered to live abundantly—to the full.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
[ROMANS 8:1–2]

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Before You Turn Out the Light

Do not tolerate the enemy’s accusations. Confront him with biblical truth, and find freedom through My Spirit.

Jesus Calling

MY WORD is seasoned with multiple commands to be thankful—for good reason! I ransomed you from eternal punishment through My torturous death on the cross, and I continue to shower additional blessings upon you. As you learn to give thanks in all circumstances, My loving Presence will increasingly brighten your vision of life.

Moses also said . . . “Who are we? You are not grumbling against us, but against the LORD.”

[EXODUS 16: 8]

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

Before You Turn Out the Light

Start now to develop a grateful mind-set, and soon you’ll perceive all of My gifts more clearly.

Jesus Calling

AS YOU COME TO KNOW ME MORE INTIMATELY, you grow increasingly aware of your sins. This presents you with a continual choice—to focus on your flaws and failures or to rejoice in My glorious gift of salvation. When My ultimate sacrifice is your focus, you live in joyful assurance of being wondrously loved.

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.

[PSALM 13:5– 6]
