Jesus Calling

THE MORE FREQUENTLY you look to Me for help, the more you will find Me faithful. I sustain you moment by moment, so there is never a time when you don’t need Me. Awareness of your neediness is actually a rich blessing—connecting you to Me and My abundant supply!

“The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

~1 SAMUEL 16:7

I have set the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Before You Turn Out the Light
Rely on Me now and in whatever may come. This is the way I want you to live.

Jesus Calling

PROBLEMS ARE PART OF LIFE. They are inescapable, woven into the very fabric of this fallen world. You tend to go into problem-solving mode all too readily, acting as if you have the capacity to fix everything. This is a habitual response, so automatic that it bypasses your conscious thinking. Not only does this habit frustrate you, it also distances you from Me.

Do not let fixing things be your top priority. You are ever so limited in your capacity to correct all that is wrong in the world around you. Don’t weigh yourself down with responsibilities that are not your own. Instead, make your relationship with Me your primary concern. Talk with Me about whatever is on your mind, seeking My perspective on the situation. Rather than trying to fix everything that comes to your attention, ask Me to show you what is truly important. Remember that you are en route to heaven, and let your problems fade in the Light of eternity.

[PSALM 32:8; LUKE 10:41–42; PHILIPPIANS 3:20–21]

Jesus Always

Thanking Me awakens your heart and sharpens your mind, helping you enjoy My Presence. So when you’re feeling out of focus or out of touch with Me, make the effort to thank Me for something. There is always an abundance of things to choose from: eternal gifts—such as salvation, grace, and faith—as well as ordinary, everyday blessings. Think back over the past twenty-four hours, and make note of all the good things I’ve provided in that short block of time. Not only will this lift your spirits, it will wake up your mind so you can think more clearly.

Remember that your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. This is why it’s so important to be self-controlled and alert! When you let your mind drift out of focus, you are much more vulnerable to the evil one. However, the remedy is simple. As soon as you realize what has happened, you can drive away the enemy by thanking and praising Me. This is worship warfare—and it works!

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.
~ Ephesians 2:8–9

Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.
~ 1 Peter 5:8

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!

Jesus Calling

YOU MAY BE FEELING cramped in your current situation, but your salvation is an ever-expanding gift. My Spirit lives inside you, and He is always working to sanctify you—making you more like Me. This is an inner expansion, and it will continue till I call you home to Glory.

He brought me out into a spacious place; he rescued me because he delighted in me.
~ 2 SAMUEL 22:20

And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

Before You Turn Out the Light

Write this on your heart: If you belong to Me, you are in a spacious place of salvation.

THROW ME YOUR CARES—your anxieties and concerns—with abandon. As soon as you release those worrisome things, you can breathe a sigh of relief and refresh yourself in My loving Presence. It doesn’t matter if you have to do this many times each day—and sometimes during the night too. I am always awake, ready to catch your cares and bear your burdens.

[Cast] all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. —1 PETER 5:7 NKJV The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

WORSHIP ME in the beauty of holiness. All true beauty reflects some of who I AM. I am working My ways in you: the divine Artist creating loveliness within your being. My main work is to clear out debris and clutter, making room for My Spirit to take full possession. Collaborate with Me in this effort by being willing to let go of anything I choose to take away. I know what you need, and I have promised to provide all of that—abundantly!

Your sense of security must not rest in your possessions or in things going your way. I am training you to depend on Me alone, finding fulfillment in My Presence. This entails being satisfied with much or with little, accepting either as My will for the moment. Instead of grasping and controlling, you are learning to release and receive. Cultivate this receptive stance by trusting Me in every situation.

LINGER IN MY PRESENCE A WHILE

Rein in your impulses to plunge into the day’s activities. Beginning your day alone with Me is essential preparation for success. A great athlete takes time to prepare himself mentally for the feat ahead of him before he moves a muscle. Similarly, your time of being still in My Presence equips you for the day ahead of you. Only I know what will happen to you this day. I have arranged the events you will encounter as you go along your way. If you are not adequately equipped for the journey, you will grow weary and lose heart. Relax with Me while I ready you for action.
