Jesus Calling

BOTH MY WORDS AND MY WORKS testify to the truth: I performed countless miraculous signs so that the display of My Glory would confirm the truth of My teaching. My resurrection and ascension further verify that I am who I claim to be: the only true Savior-God. The more you build your life on the truth, the closer to Me you can live—enjoying Me, depending on Me, glorifying Me.

“You are a king, then!” said Pilate. Jesus answered, “You are right… . In fact, for this reason I was born, and for this I came into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to Me.”
~ JOHN 18:37

Jesus did many other miraculous signs in the presence of his disciples, which are not recorded in this book. But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.
~ JOHN 20:30 – 31

Before You Turn Out the Light

You can face the morning with confidence simply by dwelling in the truth—My truth—tonight.

Jesus Calling

DON’T TRY TO PRETEND that you have it all together or that you’re stronger than you really are. Instead, lean hard on Me, letting Me bear most of your weight. Rejoice in Me – your Strength – and worship Me.

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

~ PROVERBS 18:24

But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble. O my Strength, I sing praise to you; you, O God, are my fortress, my loving God.

~ PSALM 59:16–17

Before You Turn Out the Light

In your mind’s eye, do you see Me standing nearby with My strong arm extended toward you? I am offering you My help.

Jesus Calling

I HAVE CALLED YOU to a life of Peace and thankfulness. Bring Me all your requests with thanksgiving. Because you are Mine—intimately united with Me—I personally guard your heart and mind with My supernatural Peace, which surpasses all understanding.

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.
~ COLOSSIANS 3:15

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
~ PHILIPPIANS 4:6–7 [NKJV]

Before You Turn Out the Light 💡

Cultivate a thankful heart. It enables you to receive My Peace.

Jesus Calling

AS YOU WAIT attentively in My Presence, the Light of the knowledge of My Glory shines upon you. This radiant knowledge transcends all understanding. It transforms every fiber of your being: renewing your mind, cleansing your heart, invigorating your body. Open yourself fully to My Presence; be awed by My glorious Being.

Try to imagine what I gave up when I came into your world as a baby. I set aside My Glory so that I could identify with mankind. I accepted the limitations of infancy under the most appalling conditions—a filthy stable. That was a dark night for Me, even though angels lit up the sky proclaiming, “Glory!” to awestruck shepherds.

When you sit quietly with Me, the process I went through is reversed in your experience. As you identify with Me, heaven’s vistas open up before you—granting you glimpses of My Glory. I became poor so that you might become rich. Sing hallelujahs to My holy Name!

2 CORINTHIANS 4:6; PHILIPPIANS 2:6–7; LUKE 2:13–14; 2 CORINTHIANS 8:9

EVEN YOUR MISTAKES CAN BE RECYCLED into something good through My transforming grace. You tend to view yourself as someone who should be almost perfect, making very few errors. My perspective is quite different. I see you as My beloved—weak in many ways, prone to wandering from Me. However, your weakness and waywardness cannot diminish My constant Love for you.

As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust.
~ PSALM 103:13–14

May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.
~ PSALM 119:76

Before You Turn Out the Light
Come running back to Me whenever you realize you have wandered. I’m right here.

Jesus Calling

YOUR LONGING for heaven is good because it is an extension of your yearning for Me. The hope of heaven is meant to strengthen and encourage you, filling you with wondrous Joy. Many Christians have misunderstood this word hope, believing that it denotes wishful thinking. Nothing could be farther from the truth! As soon as I became your Savior, heaven became your ultimate destination. The phrase hope of heaven highlights the benefits you can enjoy even while remaining on earth. This hope keeps you spiritually alive during dark times of adversity; it brightens your path and heightens your awareness of My Presence. My desire is that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Calling

THE MORE FREQUENTLY you look to Me for help, the more you will find Me faithful. I sustain you moment by moment, so there is never a time when you don’t need Me. Awareness of your neediness is actually a rich blessing—connecting you to Me and My abundant supply!

“The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”

~1 SAMUEL 16:7

I have set the LORD continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

Before You Turn Out the Light
Rely on Me now and in whatever may come. This is the way I want you to live.

Jesus Calling

PROBLEMS ARE PART OF LIFE. They are inescapable, woven into the very fabric of this fallen world. You tend to go into problem-solving mode all too readily, acting as if you have the capacity to fix everything. This is a habitual response, so automatic that it bypasses your conscious thinking. Not only does this habit frustrate you, it also distances you from Me.

Do not let fixing things be your top priority. You are ever so limited in your capacity to correct all that is wrong in the world around you. Don’t weigh yourself down with responsibilities that are not your own. Instead, make your relationship with Me your primary concern. Talk with Me about whatever is on your mind, seeking My perspective on the situation. Rather than trying to fix everything that comes to your attention, ask Me to show you what is truly important. Remember that you are en route to heaven, and let your problems fade in the Light of eternity.
