Jesus Always

Don’t be afraid to face your sins. Except for Me, there has never been a sinless person. If you claim to be without sin, you deceive yourself and evade the truth. It’s actually quite freeing to confess your sins, knowing that I will forgive you and purify you from all unrighteousness. The good news is that I have redeemed you—paid the full penalty for all your sins. When you confess your wrongdoings, you are aligning yourself with the truth. Since I Myself am the Truth, your confession draws you closer to Me. It also sets you free from nagging guilt feelings.

When you realize you have sinned in your thoughts, words, or actions, admit it immediately. Your confession need not be lengthy or eloquent. It can be as simple as: “Forgive me and cleanse me, Lord.” I have already done the hard part—dying on the cross for your sins. Your part is to live in the Light of the Truth. I, your Savior, am the Light of the world.

If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
~ 1 John 1:8–9

Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
~ John 14:6

“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
~ John 8:32

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
~ John 8:12

Jesus Lives

His Love

Long before you began seeking Me, I had designs on you for glorious living. My overall purpose embraces and enfolds you—helping you understand who you are, giving meaning to your life. In Me you live and move and have your being. Even before the earth’s creation I chose you as the focus of My Love, to be made whole and holy by My Love. Until you came to know Me as Savior, your life was painfully incomplete. Your inner being was rife with gaping holes. Only My limitless Love is sufficient to fill all that emptiness! The healing and wholeness you are finding in Me will continue to increase as you mature in My ways.

My Love not only completes you; it also makes you holy. Your awareness that I love you with perfect, unending Love helps you break free from sinful ways. Growth in holiness is a process, of course, and sometimes it is painful. But the pleasures of My boundless Love outweigh any amount of pain and trouble you experience. When you are suffering, talk with Me about your struggles. Pour out your heart to Me. As I soothe you with My loving Presence, I reassure you of the overall purpose I am working out in everything and everyone—in you!

It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.
~ Ephesians 1:11–12 [MSG]

“For in him we live and move and have our being.” As some of your own poets have said, “We are his offspring.”
~ Acts 17:28

Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love.
~ Ephesians 1:4 [MSG]

Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.
~ Psalm 62:8

Dear Jesus

When you spend time with Me, I restore your sense of direction. I enable you to do less but accomplish more.

Dear Jesus,
This is good news indeed! What You are offering is just what I need. There are so many possible ways to go through each day that I easily lose my sense of direction. When this happens, I tend to go around in circles: interrupting one task to do something else, while my thoughts flit from one thing to the next. At such times my body simply cannot keep up with the pace of my mind, and I become increasingly confused—accomplishing little. I know my time and energy are precious gifts from You, Lord. Help me use them wisely.

Beloved, when you realize you have lost your way, there is only one remedy: Stop, and reconnect with Me—the Director of your life. Admit that you are directionless, and ask for My help. Pause with Me, while I soothe your frazzled nerves. Let the peacefulness of My Presence revive you. As My Peace settles over your mind and soul, the way before you will open up step by step. Though you cannot see very far ahead of you, you can see enough to continue your journey. Try to remain conscious of Me as you go, remembering that I am with you every bit of the way.

You may think this delay is a waste of time, but it is not. When you follow My directions closely, you save great quantities of time and energy: You avoid doing worthless works—things that are not in My plan for you. This frees you to do the genuine works I prepared in advance for you. Thus, though you do less in terms of actual activity, you accomplish much more.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
~ Proverbs 16:3

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
~ Exodus 33:14

Direct me in the path of your commands, for there I find delight.
~ Psalm 119:35

For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
~ Ephesians 2:10

Jesus Calling

THROW ME YOUR CARES—your anxieties and concerns—with abandon. As soon as you release those worrisome things, you can breathe a sigh of relief and refresh yourself in My loving Presence. It doesn’t matter if you have to do this many times each day—and sometimes during the night too. I am always awake, ready to catch your cares and bear your burdens.

[Cast] all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. —1 PETER 5:7 NKJV The LORD watches over you—the LORD is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all harm—he will watch over your life; the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.

Fling your cares—every one of them—into My strong, waiting hands. I never miss!

Jesus Always

I want you to comfort others with the comfort you have received from Me. No matter what circumstances you are enduring, My Presence and comfort are sufficient for your needs. As a Christian, everything you endure has meaning and purpose. Suffering can build your character and prepare you to help others who are struggling. So talk freely with Me about the difficulties in your life, and ask Me to use them for My purposes. Of course, you can seek relief from hardship, but be careful not to overlook the blessings hidden in it.

When you draw closer to Me during tough times—seeking My help—you grow in maturity and wisdom. This equips you to help others as they endure adversity. Your empathy for hurting people will spill over into their lives. You will find that you’re the most effective at comforting those who are enduring trials you’ve already been through.

You can grow in peacefulness though the discipline of hardship. Though it is painful at the time, later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
~ 2 Corinthians 1:3–4

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
~ Philippians 4:19

For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.
~ Hebrews 12:11 [ESV]

Right Living

I urge you to use words with restraint. Misusing words is one of the easiest ways to sin—and one of the deadliest. In fact, the tongue is a fire that corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. You would be wise to follow the example of David, who wrote: Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips. Controlling your tongue is so difficult that you cannot do it without massive help.

Actually, I want to help you control not only your spoken words but also your thoughts. The contents of your thoughts have an enormous influence on your health and well-being. Many people are depressed or anxious because their thinking is so distorted and unbiblical. If this problem remains uncorrected, it can lead to a breakdown of health. However, Scripture provides correction: Pleasant words are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. When My Spirit is controlling your thoughts and words, both your soul and your body will flourish. Ask the Spirit to think and speak through you. Since He lives in your innermost being, He can easily influence you, but He waits to be invited. The more you invite Him into your life, the healthier and happier you will be. Your words will be pleasant—blessing not only you but also those around you.

A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.
~ Proverbs 17:27

The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
~ James 3:6

Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.
~ Psalm 141:3 [NKJV]

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
~ Proverbs 16:24

Jesus Calling

WORSHIP ME in the beauty of holiness. All true beauty reflects some of who I AM. I am working My ways in you: the divine Artist creating loveliness within your being. My main work is to clear out debris and clutter, making room for My Spirit to take full possession. Collaborate with Me in this effort by being willing to let go of anything I choose to take away. I know what you need, and I have promised to provide all of that—abundantly!

Your sense of security must not rest in your possessions or in things going your way. I am training you to depend on Me alone, finding fulfillment in My Presence. This entails being satisfied with much or with little, accepting either as My will for the moment. Instead of grasping and controlling, you are learning to release and receive. Cultivate this receptive stance by trusting Me in every situation.
