The sprinkled blood that speaks of something better than Abel’s does.

[Heb 12:24 NET]

“Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” The Lamb who was killed. For the blood of bulls and goats cannot take away sins. So when he came into the world, he said, “Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me. By his will we have been made holy through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

But Abel brought some of the firstborn of his flock – even the fattest of them. And the Lord was pleased with Abel and his offering. Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.

Let us draw near with a sincere heart in the assurance that faith brings, because we have had our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed in pure water. Therefore, brothers and sisters, … we have confidence to enter the sanctuary by the blood of Jesus.

“I am the Lord who sanctifies you.”

[Lev 20:8 NET]

“I am the Lord your God who has set you apart from the other peoples. You must be holy to me because I, the Lord, am holy, and I have set you apart from the other peoples to be mine.”

Wrapped in the love of God the Father.—“Set them apart in the truth; your word is truth.” Now may the God of peace himself make you completely holy and may your spirit and soul and body be kept entirely blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Therefore, to sanctify the people by his own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp. Our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ … gave himself for us to set us free from every kind of lawlessness and to purify for himself a people who are truly his, who are eager to do good. For indeed he who makes holy and those being made holy all have the same origin, and so he is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters. “And I set myself apart on their behalf, so that they too may be truly set apart.” Being set apart by the Spirit for obedience and for sprinkling with Jesus Christ’s blood.

Having suffered, he will reflect on his work, he will be satisfied.

[Isa 53:11 NET]

Jesus said, “It is completed!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God.

“The people whom I formed for myself, so they might praise me.” The purpose of this enlightenment is that through the church the multifaceted wisdom of God should now be disclosed to the rulers and the authorities in the heavenly realms. This was according to the eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. To demonstrate in the coming ages the surpassing wealth of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

And when you heard the word of truth (the gospel of your salvation) – when you believed in Christ – you were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit, who is the down payment of our inheritance, until the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of his glory. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.

For the Lord gives wisdom, and from his mouth comes knowledge and understanding.

[Prov 2:6 NET]

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding. But if anyone is deficient in wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without reprimand, and it will be given to him. For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, so that no one can boast in his presence.

Your instructions are a doorway through which light shines. They give insight to the untrained. In my heart I store up your words, so I might not sin against you.

All were speaking well of him, and were amazed at the gracious words coming out of his mouth. “No one ever spoke like this man!” He is the reason you have a relationship with Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

[Prov 3:5, Jas 1:5, 1 Cor 1:25, 1 Cor 1:27, 1 Cor 1:29, Ps 119:130, Ps 119:11, Luke 4:22, John 7:46, 1 Cor 1:30]

“All the rest of the bull – he must bring outside the camp to a ceremonially clean place, to the fatty ash pile, and he must burn it on a wood fire.”

[Lev 4:12 NET]

So they took Jesus, and carrying his own cross he went out to the place called “The Place of the Skull” (called in Aramaic Golgotha). There they crucified him.—For the bodies of those animals whose blood the high priest brings into the sanctuary as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp. Therefore, to sanctify the people by his own blood, Jesus also suffered outside the camp. We must go out to him, then, outside the camp, bearing the abuse he experienced.—To share in his sufferings.

But rejoice in the degree that you have shared in the sufferings of Christ, so that when his glory is revealed you may also rejoice and be glad.—For our momentary, light suffering is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison.

For we groan while we are in this tent, since we are weighed down.

[2 Cor 5:4 NET]

O Lord, you understand my heart’s desire; my groaning is not hidden from you. … For my sins overwhelm me; like a heavy load, they are too much for me to bear.

Wretched man that I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death?

For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers together until now. Not only this, but we ourselves also, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we eagerly await our adoption, the redemption of our bodies.

Although you may have to suffer for a short time in various trials.

Since I know that my tabernacle will soon be removed, because our Lord Jesus Christ revealed this to me.

For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality. Now when this perishable puts on the imperishable, and this mortal puts on immortality, then the saying that is written will happen, “Death has been swallowed up in victory.”

“I am your portion and your inheritance.”

[Num 18:20 NET]

Whom do I have in heaven but you? I desire no one but you on earth. My flesh and my heart may grow weak, but God always protects my heart and gives me stability.

Lord, you give me stability and prosperity; you make my future secure. It is as if I have been given fertile fields or received a beautiful tract of land.

“My portion is the Lord,” I have said to myself, so I will put my hope in him.

I claim your rules as my permanent possession, for they give me joy.

O God, you are my God! I long for you! My soul thirsts for you, my flesh yearns for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water. … For you are my deliverer; under your wings I rejoice.

My lover is mine and I am his.
