God calls us to be active participants in our futures. If we want to see His best for our lives, we’ve got to fight for it! Just because you face discomfort, doesn’t mean it’s not in God’s best plan for your life. Sometimes our best and biggest steps of faith are the hardest. Be assured those bold moves of faith are apart of God’s best for you!
OUR FUTURE CROWN
When he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life.
~ JAMES 1:12
Eternal life is the crown that God has promised to those who love Him. It is the believer’s ultimate reward. Although we presently experience some of the benefits of eternal life, we possess it on promise; some day we will receive it in its fullness. We are still waiting to enter into our future reward. At the Lord’s coming, He will grant to us the fullness of eternal life.
The apostle Paul expressed a similar thought: “Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing” (2 Tim. 4:8). When Christ returns for the church, Christians will be granted a life of eternal righteousness. We will all receive the same crown consisting of the rewards of eternal life, righteousness, and glory.
Endurance does not earn eternal life. However, endurance is the proof of true faith and love, and that is rewarded by the fullness of eternal life.
In the secret places of the stairs
~ Song 2:14
The dove is in the cleft of the rock the riven side of our Lord. There is comfort and security there. It is also in the secret places of the stairs. It loves to build its nest in the high towers to which men mount the winding stairs for hundreds of feet above the ground. What a glorious vision is there obtained of the surrounding scenery. It is a picture of ascending life. To reach its highest altitudes we must find the secret places of the stairs. That is the only way to rise above the natural plane. Our life should be one of quiet mounting with occasional resting places; but we should be mounting higher step by step. Everybody does not find this way of secret ascent. It is for God’s chosen ones. The world may think you are going down. You may not have as much public work to do as formerly. Blessed are the poor in spirit. It is a secret, hidden life. We may be hardly aware that we are growing, till someday a test comes and we find we are established. Have you got above the power of sin so that Christ is keeping you from wilful disobedience? Does it give you a shudder to know the consciousness of sin? Are you lifted above the world?
God wants us to eat, drink and be merry. He wants us to embrace life. But He also knows that life on earth comes with challenges, roadblocks and hardships. It’s a perfectly designed system of peaks and valleys, and it’s our memory of the valleys that lifts us up when we experience the peaks. Without those valleys, the route to our Heavenly Father would take longer to reach.
God’s heart is for the ONE. He knows each of us by name and He desires that we all come home to him! There is a party in heaven for every single lost broken soul that comes to know Jesus. How can we help just one other come to know God?
When evil comes your way, the bible instructs you to turn and start going the other way. Evil is sneaky and we have to constantly evaluate both our actions and intentions for traces of it. Even good deeds can be done with evil intentions! Before acting pause to evaluate if your heart and choices are ones that will bring glory to God or are the work of evil.
The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise, as some people think. No, he is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent.
~ 2 Peter 3:9
Do you ever feel like no matter how hard you try you are always late? Some of us need a little extra time to get to our destinations. Thankfully, God is a patient God and even if you feel like your “running behind” with Him you are right on time. God is always willing to slow down and take things at your own pace.
