Secret Prayer

I have called you friends – John 15:15

Years ago there was an old German professor whose beautiful life was a marvel to his students. Some of them resolved to know the secret of it; so one of their number hid in the study where the old professor spent his

It was late when the teacher came in. He was very tired, but he sat down and spent an hour with his Bible. Then he bowed his head in secret prayer; and finally closing the Book of books, he said,

“Well, Lord Jesus, we’re on the same old terms.”

To know Him is life’s highest attainment; and at all costs, every Christian should strive to be “on the same old terms with Him.”

The reality of Jesus comes as a result of secret prayer, and a personal study of the Bible that is devotional and sympathetic. Christ becomes more real to the one who persists in the cultivation of His presence.

Speak thou to Him for He heareth,

And spirit with spirit will meet!

Nearer is He than breathing,

Nearer than hands and feet.

Truth For Today

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

Presently we don’t live in heaven physically, but in a sense we do live in the heavenly realm. Though we are not in heaven, we are experiencing heavenly life. We have the life of God within us. We are under the rule of a heavenly King, and we obey heaven’s laws.

As a result, we experience “a foretaste of glory divine,” as Fanny Crosby noted in the hymn “Blessed Assurance.” We are living in a new community, enjoying a new fellowship that will fully come to fruition in a place called heaven.

Early Morning Prayer

Isaiah 40:31; Jeremiah 14:22; Romans 5:5; 15:13

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray God’s Will for You Today

In difficult times, I pray that your hope in God will provide the strength you need, for only God can renew your strength. I pray that you will run and not grow weary, you shall walk and not be faint, when you place your trust completely in the Lord our God. May you be assured that when you place your hope in Him, you will not be disappointed. May you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit and may God strengthen you with joy and peace.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Jesus Always

My kingdom is not of this world; it is indestructible and eternal. When you see shocking evil and mismanagement all around you, do not despair. As I was being arrested, I told My disciples that I could call on My Father and He would send more than twelve legions of angels to rescue Me. However, this was not the plan We had chosen. It was necessary for Me to be crucified—to save everyone who calls on My Name.

Jesus said, “My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place.”
—John 18:36

“Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels?”
—Matthew 26:53

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
—Acts 2:21

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
—John 16:33

Morning Prayer

John 3:36; 10:10; 15:4; Romans 8:6; 15:13

In Jesus’ Name, I Pray God’s Will for You Today

I pray that you will appreciate the life you have been given in Christ. Since Jesus is your Lord and Savior, may you know that your eternal life with Him has begun with the fullness of life here on earth. I pray that people will be drawn to you because of the joy of having Jesus in you. May you be connected and remain in Him so that you will overflow with hope and gladness. May you continually choose Christ and His Spirit of life and peace. I pray that His presence will always be with you.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
