Christ’s Intercession for the Tempted

“Simon, Simon, pay attention! Satan has demanded to have you all, to sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. When you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”

[Luke 22:31-32 NET]

Though faint my prayers, and cold my love

My stedfast hope shall not remove,

While Jesus intercedes above.

Against me earth and hell combine;

But on my side is power Divine;

Jesus is all, and he is mine.

Prayer Guide

But he must ask in faith without doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind. since he is a double-minded individual, unstable in all his ways.

[Jas 1:6,8 NET]

Unless there is a predominating and overmastering purpose to which all the accessories and incidents of life contribute, the character will be weak, irresolute, uncertain.

~ Frances E. Willard ~

Life is not an idle ore,

But iron dug from central gloom,

And heated hot with burning fears,

And dipt in baths of hissing tears,

And battered with the shocks of doom

To shape and use.

~ Alfred Tennyson ~

O God, help me to be positive. May I not want to be in so many places, and in so many things, that I can never be found in anything. Help me to know that a purpose secured is worth many attempts, and that to have a character I must build it. Amen.

Evening Prayer

[Proverbs 10:9; 11:3; 13:6; James 5:12]

I pray that you will be a person of integrity. Let righteousness be your fortress. I pray that in all things, you will guard against duplicity. Make your words match your deeds, and may you be careful in making promises. May you never promise anything that you cannot fulfill. May you never swear – not by heaven or earth or by anything else. I pray that people will know you and respect you for your tireless integrity.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
