“The Lord has provided us with justice.”
[Jer 23:6 NET]
We are all like one who is unclean, all our so-called righteous acts are like a menstrual rag in your sight.
I will come and tell about the mighty acts of the sovereign Lord. I will proclaim your justice – yours alone.—I will greatly rejoice in the Lord; I will be overjoyed because of my God. For he clothes me in garments of deliverance; he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. I look like a bridegroom when he wears a turban as a priest would; I look like a bride when she puts on her jewelry.
“Hurry! Bring the best robe, and put it on him!”—“She was permitted to be dressed in bright, clean, fine linen” (for the fine linen is the righteous deeds of the saints).
More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord … that I may gain Christ, and be found in him, not because I have my own righteousness derived from the law, but because I have the righteousness that comes by way of Christ’s faithfulness – a righteousness from God that is in fact based on Christ’s faithfulness.
