The offense of the cross.
[Gal 5:11 NET]
“If anyone wants to become my follower, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.”
Do you not know that friendship with the world means hostility toward God? So whoever decides to be the world’s friend makes himself God’s enemy.—We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.—“The one who believes in him will not be put to shame.”—So you who believe see his value, but for those who do not believe, the stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone, and a stumbling-stone and a rock to trip over.
But may I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.—I have been crucified with Christ.—Now those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
If we endure, we will also reign with him. If we deny him, he will also deny us.
