Morning Devotional

What’s the most irreplaceable object of affection in your life? Perhaps a family heirloom, a letter from a grandparent, or an ornament you made. It could be a family recipe, a summer lake house, or a picture album. We all have a possession that we would never trade for anything in the world, not even for a million dollars, because nothing can replace the memories and the treasures of our hearts.

When Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven as the most worthy and valuable treasure, he sure does get it. Jesus knows what a person will do to save the most important thing in his or her life. It makes sense, after all, for that is what Jesus has done for us. His life, death, and resurrection are all for us — the most treasured ones in this world. Don’t take my word for it. Take God’s.
