I will return again to my lair until they have suffered their punishment. Then they will seek me.
Your sinful acts have alienated you from your God; your sins have caused him to reject you.
My lover had already turned and gone away … I looked for him but did not find him; I called him but he did not answer me.
“I attacked them and angrily rejected them, yet they remained disobedient and stubborn. I have seen their behavior, but I will heal them.”
“You have brought all this on yourself, Israel, by deserting the Lord your God when he was leading you along the right path.”
“So he got up and went to his father. But while he was still a long way from home his father saw him, and his heart went out to him; he ran and hugged his son and kissed him.”
I will heal their waywardness and love them freely, for my anger will turn away from them.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous, forgiving us our sins and cleansing us from all unrighteousness.
