As if with choice meat you satisfy my soul. My mouth joyfully praises you, whenever I remember you on my bed, and think about you during the nighttime hours. [Ps 63:5-6]
How difficult it is for me to fathom your thoughts about me, O God! How vast is their sum total! If I tried to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand. Even if I finished counting them, I would still have to contend with you. Your words are sweeter in my mouth than honey! Your lovemaking is more delightful than wine.
Whom do I have in heaven but you? I desire no one but you on earth. You are the most handsome of all men! You speak in an impressive and fitting manner! For this reason God grants you continual blessings.
Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my taste. He brought me into the banquet hall, and he looked at me lovingly. His appearance is like Lebanon, choice as its cedars. His mouth is very sweet; he is totally desirable. This is my beloved! This is my companion.
