Jesus Calling

LEARN TO LISTEN TO ME even while you are listening to other people. As they open their souls to your scrutiny, you are on holy ground. You need the help of My Spirit to respond appropriately. Ask Him to think through you, live through you, love through you. My own Being is alive within you in the Person of the Holy Spirit. If you respond to others’ needs through your unaided thought processes, you offer them dry crumbs. When the Spirit empowers your listening and speaking, My streams of living water flow through you to other people. Be a channel of My Love, Joy, and Peace by listening to Me as you listen to others.

[EXODUS 3:5; 1 CORINTHIANS 6:19; JOHN 7:38–39]

DO NOT USURP MY ROLE in people’s lives, no matter how much you long to help them. Learn from Me: Because I have all authority in heaven and on earth, I could rescue or control anyone at will, yet I wanted them to be free to love Me—or not. Restrain your urges to solve people’s problems; instead, use your time and energy to listen to them and pray for them.

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

[MATTHEW 28:18]

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.

Before You Turn Out the Light:

Entrust your loved ones to Me. They are much safer in My hands than anywhere else.

Evening Devotional

I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God.

[Psalm 69:3]

Do you ever feel tired? I mean tired of just trying so hard and yet just moving inches. Maybe you're trying to mend a relationship, advance your career, or just trying to gather yourself emotionally. Despite these valleys in your life, don't give up on hope. This hope is the purposefulness of your tribulations that God has planned to produce the most beautiful story about you. Be patient, strong and trust in Him. Do not give up.

Daily Light

Do as you promised. [2 Sam 7:25]

Confirm to your servant your promise, which you made to the one who honors you…. Then I will have a reply for the one who insults me, for I trust in your word…. Remember your word to your servant, for you have given me hope…. Your statutes have been my songs in the house where I live…. The law you have revealed is more important to me than thousands of pieces of gold and silver…. O Lord, your instructions endure; they stand secure in heaven. You demonstrate your faithfulness to all generations.

In the same way God wanted to demonstrate more clearly to the heirs of the promise that his purpose was unchangeable, and so he intervened with an oath, so that we who have found refuge in him may find strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us through two unchangeable things, since it is impossible for God to lie. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, sure and steadfast, which reaches inside behind the curtain, where Jesus our forerunner entered on our behalf.

Precious and most magnificent promises.

Afternoon Prayer

“Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.”

[Psalm 119:133]

Father God,

The world has an agenda for me today, and so do You. Charmed by what I see, I could easily fall prey to their mindsets and ideals. To do that could cause me setbacks and frustrations. Direct my steps today Lord, that I may only follow You.

Amen

Dear Jesus

Each moment you can choose to practice My Presence or to practice the presence of problems.

Dear Jesus,

You know how I long to practice Your Presence more consistently. When I keep my focus on You, my whole perspective is brighter, more joyful. When I’m preoccupied with problems, I feel weighed down and anxious. Yet the default setting of my mind seems to be problem solving. My thoughts tend to flow toward finding what is wrong and trying to fix it. I want to break free from this hurtful pattern, but its roots go deep into my being.

Beloved, come to Me and rest in My sufficiency. Stop trying to fix yourself by focusing on your failures. Remember that the world you inhabit is fallen, and you are part of that brokenness. You can no more practice My Presence perfectly than you can save yourself from your sins. In a fallen world, all your default settings are tainted by sin. Nonetheless, you are being transformed and renewed by My Spirit within you.

Collaborate with Me as I work to set you free from hurtful ways. View each moment as a fresh opportunity to draw near Me. I welcome you with open arms.

“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

[Matthew 11:28]

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

[Romans 12:2]

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there be any hurtful way in me, and lead me in the everlasting way.

Devotional

“‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for him who believes.”

[Mark 9:23]

Some days can be a bit lackluster or uninspiring. If you’re having too many of those days, maybe it’s time to be inspired to do great things. It’s possible if you believe. However, this belief is not in your capabilities but rather in God who can provide for you something far greater than what you’re thinking now. Use your imagination then trust God!
