Little children, remain in him. [1 John 2:28]
The one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed around by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, since he is a double-minded individual, unstable in all his ways.
I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are following a different gospel – not that there really is another gospel, but there are some who are disturbing you and wanting to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we (or an angel from heaven) should preach a gospel contrary to the one we preached to you, let him be condemned to hell!
You who are trying to be declared righteous by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace! You were running well; who prevented you from obeying the truth?
“Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it remains in the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want, and it will be done for you.”
For every one of God’s promises are “Yes” in him; therefore also through him the “Amen” is spoken, to the glory we give to God.
