Afternoon Prayer

“Direct my steps by Your word, and let no iniquity have dominion over me.”

Psalm 119:133

Father God, the world has an agenda for me today, and so do You. Charmed by what I see, I could easily fall prey to their mindsets and ideals. To do that could cause me setbacks and frustrations. Direct my steps today Lord, that I may only follow You. Amen

Daily Faith

I will not die, but live, and I will proclaim what the Lord has done.

– Ps 118:17 NET

A fair assurance this! It was no doubt based upon a promise, inwardly whispered in the psalmist’s heart, which he seized upon and enjoyed. Is my case like that of David? Am I depressed because the enemy affronts me? Are there multitudes against me and few on my side? Does unbelief bid me lie down and die in despair-a defeated, dishonored man? Do my enemies begin to dig my grave?

What then? Shall I yield to the whisper of fear, and give up the battle, and with it give up all hope? Far from it. There is life in me yet: “I shall not die.” Vigor will return and remove my weakness: “I shall live.” The Lord lives, and I shall live also. My mouth shall again be opened: “I shall declare the works of Jehovah.” Yes, and I shall speak of the present trouble as another instance of the wonder-working faithfulness and love of the Lord my God. Those who would gladly measure me for my coffin had better wait a bit, for “the Lord hath chastened me sore, but he hath not given me over unto death.” Glory be to His name forever! I am immortal till my work is done. Till the Lord wills it, no vault can close upon me.

Daily Light [Morning]

“’Not by strength and not by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord who rules over all.” – Zech 4:6 NET

Who comprehends the mind of the Lord, or gives him instruction as his counselor?—God chose what the world thinks foolish to shame the wise, and God chose what the world thinks weak to shame the strong. God chose what is low and despised in the world, what is regarded as nothing, to set aside what is regarded as something, so that no one can boast in his presence.

“The wind blows wherever it will, and you hear the sound it makes, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”—Not born by human parents or by human desire or a husband’s decision, but by God.

“Do not fear,… my spirit even now testifies to you.”—“The battle is not yours, but God’s.”—“It is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves! For the battle is the Lord’s.”
