For this is what the high and exalted one says, the one who rules forever, whose name is holy: “I dwell in an exalted and holy place, but also with the discouraged and humiliated, in order to cheer up the humiliated and to encourage the discouraged.”

It is better to be lowly in spirit with the afflicted than to share the spoils with the proud.—”Blessed are the poor in spirit, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.”

There are six things that the Lord hates, even seven things that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, … .—The Lord abhors every arrogant person.

Examine me, and probe my thoughts! Test me, and know my concerns! See if there is any idolatrous tendency in me, and lead me in the reliable ancient path!
