Art

Art is like fruit, and every tree is known by its fruit. Fruit reveals a lot about the tree from which it falls.

If you want to know what is in the heart of a man, don’t listen to what he says. Look at what he does. A man can say that he believes in generosity. He can tattoo it on his chest and have it inscribed on his tombstone, but nothing speaks of his actual generosity more than how he spends his money.

If you want to know what is in the heart of a culture, look at its art. Read its poetry, listen to its music, and you’ll begin to know the tree from which it fell.
